Please note the media has reported a “classroom closure” at I.S. 24. This is not the case. The NYC Department of Education uses the term “classroom closure” very loosely and applied it to the case of a staff member who tested positive but was not in the building or with classes of students.

Just a reminder that your child will be dismissed at different exit doors each day based on the last class of the day is. Please consider the following:

In order to protect staff and students in DOE buildings, all visitors wishing to enter DOE buildings must show proof of having at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccination. Visitors do not include students attending school in a DOE building.

Please find a letter attached here from our Chancellor Mrs. Porter as well as information regarding the health and safety practices in our schools.

A schedule of times will be available in the coming days by visiting the site below if you are interested. No vaccinations will be available on Thursday, September 16 in observance of Yom Kippur.


Important information:

You will not need to provide proof of immigration status or a social security number to get vaccinated. ID is only required for proof of age.
You do not need health insurance to get vaccinated.
All minors who are 12 to 15 must be accompanied to the vaccination site by a parent or guardian, or another adult caregiver designated by the parent/guardian.

The NYC Department of Education will be hosting a series of virtual Back-to-School Family Forums led by the borough leaders and featuring Chancellor Meisha Porter, DOE Leadership, and the NYC Department of Health on Thursday, September 2, 2021.

The attached NYC Department of Education 2021 HeaIth and Safety guidance has been released for families to better understand how schools will operate this September when students return to full in-person learning.

Beginning July 2, 2021, you can begin to complete the NYC Family Income Inquiry Form. A flyer is attached here on where to go and submit your information.
