Dear I.S. 24 School Community,
Please note the media has reported a “classroom closure” at I.S. 24. This is not the case. The NYC Department of Education uses the term “classroom closure” very loosely and applied it to the case of a staff member who tested positive but was not in the building or with classes of students. No classroom closure is in place at our school I promise you!
Please note that when a “classroom closure” does take place the DoE provides a Principal with notices and letters to release to the person (staff or family of student)who tested positive, the close contacts to who tested positive as well as the entire school community. When this does occur I will use Social Media, Pupilpath and our school website to release this information so everyone is aware. In the rare case of extreme emergency I will also use a phone messenger system to reach our families.
I know some staff and families were concerned over seeing our school’s name on a list of “classroom closures” so I wanted to take this moment to relieve any concerns.
