DOE Fall 2022 COVID-19 Guidance

This guidance provides best practice considerations for schools for the 2022-2023 school year to help prevent the transmission of COVID-19 among students and staff.

Please be aware that family vacations should be planned to coincide with the school calendar. Teachers are not obligated to make prior arrangements for assignments, projects and other instructional activities involving work that has not yet been presented. Also, students absence for vacation will also be treated as an unexcused absence. You should also be aware that teachers cannot be expected to extend their normal workday to provide catch up work or to administer missed exams for students that have been on vacation, nor shall teachers be required to repeat lessons that were given during the vacation period. Please keep this in mind when planning your next family vacation.

New York City has updated the school immunization requirements for
the 2022-2023 school year. A list of these requirements for 2022-2023
is included with this letter. Before the school year begins, you must
submit proof of immunization for your child if they are attending
childcare or school.

You can access the results through the NYC Schools Account (NYCSA) portal. You can view the results in the “My Student” page. Your account must be linked to your child in order to view this information.

Additional vaccines required for Middle School as per the NYS are;
-Tdap vaccine for Grade 6
-Meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MenACWY) for grade 7-12

Please be advised that due to expected poor weather our outdoor Graduation ceremony will now be moved to a new date and time. Due to this change and to support staffing, safety, and security we will hold the ceremony at 2:00PM for the entire grade on Friday, June 24. The location remains the same. Please allow for at least thirty minutes extra time to find parking and safely walk over to the Athletic Field.

All I.S. 24 students and families are asked to pause and wait on checking for Summer Assignments. Due to a technical error with some of the assignments we are updating the tab on our school website www.barnes24.org. We will share another message by phone to families when to check the website again shortly. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
