We are extending the deadline for families to submit their high school applications! Families will now have until Monday, December 9 to submit their high school application, LaGuardia application, and additional materials.
This afternoon we are notifying families directly by email, and will share through other communications channels. Please feel free to share with your school community as well.
School staff deadlines:
- December 9 is the deadline to submit any application that lists any program that uses an Audition, Screened with Assessment, or Language Criteria admissions method.
- December 9 is the deadline to submit a LaGuardia application.
- December 9 is the deadline to upload any additional materials in MySchools.
- January 10 is the deadline to submit all other applications. These are applications that only list programs that use a Screened, Open, Ed. Opt., or Zoned admissions method.
You can export your list of current students from MySchools to see which students have still not submitted their applications. Detailed guidance can be found in Section 3 of the MySchools Guide for School Staff.
Additional materials:
Students can submit virtual auditions (and assessments for some screened programs) online directly through their MySchools account. You can also upload their materials through the school portal by going to the Additional Materials Items section. This video tutorial below walks through the process. Here are some tips for troubleshooting uploads:
- Make sure that the file name does not have special characters like pound signs, hashtags, hyphens, underscores, etc. (#,-,/,_).
- Upload on a different browser.
- Use laptop instead of a mobile device.
- Make sure the file is smaller than 500 MB. If you need to compress a file, use this website: clideo.com/compress-video(Open external link).
- If you are using a google doc or SharePoint file, please change it to a pdf or word file.
- Do not submit zip files.
Please support any students who are unable to upload their files. We are also supporting students by uploading files on their behalf. Students can email us at [email protected] and include their name, OSIS, type of files (Dance, Visual Arts, Screened Consortium Schools, etc) and attach their files to the email.
Chances of Offer
Yesterday, we emailed some families to let them know that the chance of offer indicator they saw in MySchools was incorrect for N.Y.C. Lab School for Collaborative Studies and Millennium High School. We have now updated MySchools to reflect the correct chance of offer, based on a correction in the program’s seat availability. Families were instructed to log in to MySchools to review their applications and make any changes. These families can work with you or email us directly to make changes to their applications until January 10. As a reminder, the chance of offer feature is a guide and does not guarantee an offer. We recommend listing 12 or more programs in your true order of preference.
SHSAT Updates:
This weekend (12/7 and 12/8) is the final SHSAT administration for this school year.
- SHSAT Tickets:
- Updated/New tickets are now available in MySchools.
- Instructions on emailing/printing SHSAT Ticket can be found in Section 7 of the MySchools Guide.
- Testing Accommodations for the SHSAT: If students’ accommodations are not correct on their SHSAT Ticket, email [email protected] with any escalations with documentation.
HS/SHS Admissions Office Hours:
Our last Office Hours for this year took place earlier today. We will resume office hours in the spring.
