After School Center: Spring Session

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are pleased to inform you that the I.S. 24 After School Center (ASC) program is now available. In an effort to enrich your child’s middle school experience we are offering a variety of extra-curricular activitiesEach program will be held one day a week Tuesday through Thursday, from 2:20 pm-3:50 pm. The cost of each program is $110.00 for a four (4) week session. Please note some programs may have an additional supply fee.

Only Credit Cards using our online payment form will be accepted. No cash or personal checks will be accepted.  Please complete the registration form online at www.barnes24.orgApplication and payment are due by April 25, 2025.  Online payments will show up on your credit card statement as OSP1489MyraSBarnesSINY.If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. O'Connor or Mrs. Doyle.

General policies: Registration fees are refundable minus the credit card fee only if a class is canceled.  Classes will be canceled in the event of insufficient enrollment.  Your child will be accepted to the program upon receipt of both the registration and fees.  Placement into a class goes according to availability. There will be no bus transportation available. Failure to pick up your child at dismissal of the program may lead to the removal from the program. After our program, students enrolled in the UAU program may still attend the UAU program until 5 PM.

Sphero Battle Bots; Mr. LaPorta  $110

Join the Sphero BattleBots after school program where innovation meets competition! In this exciting club, you’ll team up with fellow students to design and build unique attachments for Sphero Bolt robots. Your goal? To pop your opponents’ balloons in an intense competition. (18 students maximum)

 

Painting: Ms. Virone  $130

Students will embark on a creative journey, focusing on a single canvas throughout the weeks. Participants will refine their skills and techniques, adding layers and depth to their artwork. This collaborative experience encourages self-expression and artistic growth, culminating in a unique and personal masterpiece.  Please note this activity has an included $20 material fee (12 students maximum)

 

Volleyball: Ms. Cios  $110.00

 

Basic volleyball skills such as passing and serving will be worked on during this program. Small group practice and competition will be focused on to encourage skill development and sportsmanship.

Dissection: Mrs. D.Amoroso $110.00

Grossology - Diving into Dissections! Discover the fascinating world of anatomy in our afterschool dissection program! Get hands-on experience exploring real specimens and uncover how living systems work. Join us for a fun, educational adventure that brings science to life! ( Maximum 24 Students)

 

Cooking Club: Ms. Ginos $130.00

Who doesn't love a sweet treat after a long day? "Treat" yourself! You'll learn the basics of baking, decorating, and preparing desserts. This interactive and engaging club will cure any sweet tooth, while bringing joy to families who can enjoy these desserts at home. As a bonus, students will create their own recipe books to commemorate their hard work. (Maximum of 12 students) Please note this activity has an included $20 material fee

 

Guitar: Mr. Barry $110.00

 

Unleash your inner rockstar! All guitar players are welcome. Learn how to navigate the fretboard, read music and perform with an ensemble.

Yoga: Mrs. Redondo  $110.00- Cancelled due to low enrollment.

Explore the power of Mindful Movement with Mrs. Redondo! Students are invited to discover how physical activity not only builds strength and flexibility but also enhances social and emotional well-being. Through engaging group activities and gentle yoga, students will learn to connect mind and body,  enhance focus, develop stress-management skills and foster a positive mindset.  Everybody is welcome in this supportive environment. No yoga experience is required.

Learn how to gather information, interview, and write articles while building research, communication, and critical-thinking skills. We will put everything we have learned into creating a school newspaper!
